SIGG's "baby" version of their aluminum bottle is not much good for young toddlers as it uses the same twist sport top as other SIGG kids' bottles. SIGG does not offer a sippy lid for their bottles, and the cap can require a firm twist to open or close. Bottles are sold in a variety of powder-coated designs.
SIGG has refused to share information regarding its epoxy lining, which it assures consumers does not leach BPA but which it will not guarantee does not contain BPA. Company representatives have stated that the lining ingredients are proprietary to their supplier, but that as a result of the controversy surrounding BPA they are seeking an alternative epoxy.
SIGG's "kids" aluminum bottle comes with a twist sport top and cap.
SIGG admitted in August 2009 that bottles produced before August 2008 were made with an epoxy liner made with BPA. They have conducted tests indicating that the BPA did not leach from the bottle, which suggests that it is unlikely to pose a health threat from BPA exposure.
Water bottles with this BPA-containing lining have insides that are brassy-looking and shiny. Newer bottles with SIGG's new "EcoSafe" lining have a duller, beige lining but may be prone to chipping, exposing the aluminum. Exposure to aluminum leaching poses an additional health concern.
