The Vita-Mix 5200 has a powerful 2 hp motor with a "cool-running" design for longer life, feedback-based variable speed control (achieving requested speed regardless of resistance), and offers an optional "dry blade" for grinding grain and kneading dough; its power and speed range (from 11 to 240 mph) are designed to break down whole foods - stems, peels, and all - and puree them smooth. The 64-oz. jar is made of Tritan copolyester, a BPA-free plastic that shares many of polycarbonate's other properties. All previous Vita-Mix models are made with polycarbonate plastic and contain BPA.
